Description and Specification for Lab Tenders
Collapse Tester for Paper Tubes.
The Collapse Tester for Paper Tubes consists of a rigid platform for placing the test specimen on, an arrangement for compressing the specimen with the help of a manually operated hydraulic jack and measurement of maximum force with the help of calibrated pressure gauge with a dummy pointer.
The test specimen is placed on a flat steel platform and a moving flat rigid plate is lowered on it with the help of a hand wheel and screw arrangement so that it just touches the top of the sample. The load is then applied by a manually operated hydraulic jack placed below the lower plate, which lifts the lower plate to compress the specimen against the upper plate. The hydraulic pressure in the jack which is proportional to force on the specimen is measured on a pressure gauge with a dummy pointer to record the maximum pressure corresponds to collapse strength of the tube. The collapse strength is then determined in force unit with the help of calibration certificate for the pressure gauge provided with the equipment.
Two pressure gauges are fitted to the equipment, one for measuring low force and the other for measuring high force. An isolating valve is also provided on the low range pressure gauge for its safety to isolate it while conducting test on the high range pressure gauge.
